WORDS:

In the face of much pointy-shouldered competition last time out, Ketoloco excelled. The Light bar venue they have made so unquestionably their own was alive for 11 memorable hours with smiling faces, dancing feet and connoisseur sounds. And that will be the blueprint once again as they go further underground in August, with Kompakt and Pampa man Robag Wruhme the headliner as he plays his first gig in the city for over a year…

Having forged himself a glistening career as one half of esteemed outfit Wighnomy Bros, Robag Whrume is a DJ and production talent known across the world for his exciting take on house and techno. More recently, though, the man has stepped out on his own, with an incredibly deft compilation for Kompakt coming earlier this year, just before the release of his latest full length album, Thora Vukk, on DJ Koze’s much lauded, left-of-centre imprint Pampa.

It is a delicate, emotional and accomplished album that strays far from the ‘floor and is made up of delicate found sounds, highly musical interludes and organic production techniques of the sort that also characterised his odd ball podcast for Resident Advisor recently. Quite frankly, he’s one of the finest bookings the crew have ever tied down and they are glad to be backing him up, doing what they do best, spinning from deep to druggy via weirded-out and more in their slots either side of him on the night.

As well as the tasty sonic treats, there will be plenty of munchies from the BBQ on tap all day, as well as an outdoor beer stall, an unavoidably carnival atmosphere across the outdoor terrace and two indoor floors and the punchiest of punchy sounds courtesy of an industry standard Funktion One. This will be a final opportunity this year for you to dance under that big bright ball in the sky and, given that every ‘Loco event this year has sold out in advance, we suggest you don’t hang around in getting your ticket…

Launching of Retail Profit Book and Ebooks at Cariocca Business Park, Manchester – 29th July 2011

This book and ebooks are not about Oprah Winfrey, Prince William and Kate Middleton or even Barack Obama, so what’s the buzz about? Well these books are about money! They are about how to turn a failing retail business into a money spinner. They are about how retailers can increase their profit margins by 3% in 90 days.
The loss prevention department of most retail organisations is outsourced, as a result, it is perceived as a separate department from the rest of the retail operation. The retail industry continues to spend billions each year on loss prevention measures with no substantial return on investment. Last year loss prevention spending rose by 9.7% to $26.8 billion yet retail shrinkage was 1.36% ($107.3 billion).
Why is there such a large disparity between the amount spent on loss prevention and the return on investment? Answer – the loss prevention strategies employed by most loss prevention experts are antiquated. Loss prevention has always been centred on shoplifting, employee theft and fraud. However, loss prevention goes way beyond those headings. Yes it is true that shoplifting, theft and fraud are the major causes of retail shrinkage but there are other serious causes of retail shrinkage that need to be addressed.
Loss prevention is basically profit protection: effective implementation can increase a retailer’s profit margin tremendously. Handled badly it can lead to an unnecessary waste of resources as we have seen over the last 10 years.
“84%: Most Effective Strategies for Retail Profit Protection” breaks the mold. It’s about how to use loss prevention as a vehicle for increasing profit. It’s about the “critical non-essentials” that makes the difference in the 21st Century retail environment.
Our series of e-books which are specific to each area of retail loss prevention are listed below:
12.24% The Most Effective Retail Employee Error Reduction Strategies
24.5% The Most Effective Perishable And Non-Perishable Shrinkage Reduction Strategies
15.6% The Most Effective Perishable Shrinkage Reduction Strategies
48.8% The Most Effective Strategies For Reducing Retail Receiving Shrinkage
14.3% The Most Effective Shoplifting Reduction Strategies
24.5% The Most Effective Non-Perishable Shrinkage Reduction Strategies
27.9% The Most Effective Retail Shrinkage Reduction Technologies
27.8% The Most Effective Retail Employee Theft Reduction Strategies
The e-books, which are available in multi-mobile format (you can view them on your ipad, iphone, Blackberry, Kindle and netbook) address the major aspect of retail operations: receiving, shoplifting, employee theft, employee errors and perishable shrinkage. The investigatory approach allowed us to expand on areas that have not previously been analysed. They empower retailers to face their challenges by identifying the signs and occurrences along with step by step guide on how to prevent them.
In this Facebook, Google, eBay and Amazon era, antiquated strategies for retail success are no longer valid. Price wars and multiple promotions are relics of a bygone era that are not innovative enough for the 21st century retail environment. Retailers who understand this simple fact will be the ones to succeed in the new retail environment.
These book and e-books are jam packed with tonnes of creative and innovative ideas that would get any retailers juices flowing. If you are a retailer and your goal this year is to increase your profit margin, then these book and e-books are for you.
These book and ebooks are about how the likes of Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s almost doubled their profit during the recession while thousands of retailers went out of business. They are about how Tesco became a global brand and the second most profitable retailer in the world. They are about how the likes of WH Smith or Waterstones can take on Amazon and win.
This is a fresh thinking process in an industry that is still stuck in the past century.
