City7s is a unique sports event which combines play with partying. It will take place over August bank holiday weekend, 27th and 28th August 2011.Teams from across the UK will compete on the Forest Recreation Ground in a fun and friendly 7 a side tournament. Men’s, women’s and masters teams (over 35s) will compete for the title of City 7 champions and a chance to play in one of its partner events in Asia.
The tournaments are played in accordance to the FIFA laws of the game, except where there shall be no offside and interchange of players.
• There are 3 levels of competition – Cup, Plate & Bowl – and both winners and runners-up at each level will receive trophies to mark their achievement and each player in these teams is also awarded with a medallion.
• Registration of 15 players maximum
• Grass pitch 70m x 45m (3/4 size of standard pitch)
• Full size goals
• 15 minute per game
• Interchange/Rolling substitution
• No Offside
In the evenings, players have a chance to visit Nottingham’s other attractions and show off their dancing skills at the VIP players’ parties at Gatecrasher and Oceana, plus a whole host of other event partners.
Event Director and local Nottingham resident Martyn Ware commented “City 7s was an event inspired by my time in Asia where 7s football is huge. After visiting South Africa for the world cup I wanted to develop an event that brought people together through the power of sport. City7s.com aims to do that by putting the fun back in football by combining play with partying”.
Martyn hopes to help the local economy by bringing new visitors, jobs and opportunities to Nottingham, bringing a much need boost to Nottingham’s local economy.
