10 Years of James Zabiela – August 7th 2011 (Discoteca)

On the 7th August James Zabiela will mark his era defining 10th year residency at We Love…, Space, Ibiza. With his deep understanding of what makes electronic music tick as well as constantly pushing the technical side of his art, both in the studio and during live performances James has become synonymous with the We Love… brand, growing alongside it, where they have now both reached magnanimous status.

“My best club night memory at We Love… is hard to pin point because I´ve done so many amazing gigs there now, to say one is impossible. My birthday there last year was a pretty special gig although this years is shaping up to top that.” James Zabiela

Hailing from Southampton, James Zabiela has been an influential part of the electronic music scene since the early noughties and considered one of the most prolific DJs and producers on the planet.  In that time he has shaped a house sound which fuses breakbeat influences and tech-house elements, and has remixed the likes of Royksopp  Ladytron, Sasha and Radiohead. Having been invited to mix multiple compilations for Renaissance, he has established himself as a significant contributor to the electronic music landcsape.  In 2006 James was awarded the People´s Choice accolade as ´Best International DJ´ at the Australian Dance Music Awards. In 2007 he was awarded the Best British DJ at the DJ Mag Best of British DJ Awards while 2007 and 2008 saw James sit in the top 20 of the world famous DJ Mag Top 100.   Last year he released his 2010 single ‘Blame’ following 100,000 hits on YouTube and has recently been in the studio with Hot Chip pushing even further into more musical corners.  To thank him for the music, he has been given something of a special gift , from his We Love…family, complete free reign to programme the Discoteca. For this, he calls on his friends and favourites.

Acclaimed techno producer Apparat, aka Sascha Ring, has a pedigree in electronica that is second to none. The Berlin-based producer operates with fellow Germans Modeselektor as Moderat, has worked with BPitch Control boss Ellen Allien on the acclaimed Orchestra of Bubbles and has also released three solo albums of his own. Having released his DJ Kicks compilation last year, his new album entitled ‘The Devil’s Work’, is released through Mute in September.  Pearson Sound/Ramadanman has been one of the foremost figures in bass and electronic music over the past year or so.  He found a bountiful niche for himself in amongst the circuitry of 808s and 909s to produce ‘Work Them’, ‘Glut’ and ‘Blanked’ three of his finest singles to date, and tracks that found almost as many fans in the European house and techno hierarchy as they did the UK scene. He’s also contributed one of the most highly acclaimed fabric mix of recent times and with the young producer´s label Hessle Audio he has his own residency at the famed  London club. It’s not surpise then that he crosses the water to take on the stage at Space.

Tom Budden has been a leading force at the forefront of the UK’s south coast  house and techno scene for a number of years. Presenting a thoroughly modern sound that has furrowed paths at both the deeper and the more driving end of the spectrum, his DJ sets are renowned for being tuned perfectly to precision for the vibe, the venue and time of night or indeed day. In 2008 he launched his own label, the respected ALiVE Recordings and over the past two years  the label  has grown into a highly respected label within the industry, with releases from artists  around the globe picking up plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Danny Howells, Milton Jackson and Steve Angello.

Spektre (live) complete Zabiela’s self-programmed Discoteca night. Playing live, they weave an intrepid, complex web amongst underground dance music´s elite. The techno brainchild of DJs/producers Filthy Rich and Paul Maddox, the dark duo was formed through a shared passion for driving electronic music and a mutual desire to push sound boundaries using the most cutting edge technology around. The fusion of their combined experience in the studio allows them to construct dark, sinister sounds mixed with twisted, haunting vocals and unnerving, atmospheric foundations.

Zabiela, a true We Love… legend and a DJ truly reflective of their sound. We can’t think of anyone else’s more capable hands we’d rather leave the Discoteca in.

Coming together is not just a name. It’s a vision.
If you pick a name like COME TOGETHER you can’t afford to leave anybody out of the loop. On the contrary, you have to make sure your party is top of everyone’s A-list and then you have to open your doors wide enough so they all feel welcome. Safehouse Management has the experience and vision to make that happen. No doubt, they are also fired up by last year’s success with massive nights and overwhelmingly positive reviews. Whatever the secret, their line-up speaks for itself with live performers including British producers Chase & Status whose explosive sound is guaranteed to blast the PA system; legendary US hip-hop group, De La Soul, well known for seriously rocking the house; Faithless Soundsystem, who will be calling all the faithful back to Space once again for three exclusive gigs; British chart-topping dynamo Katy B, performing with a live band; award winning Kelis, whose new album Flesh Tone is getting top recognition; Magnetic Man, the British dubstep trio of Skream, Benga and Artwork; frenetic Australian megastars Pendulum; and also Tinie Tempah, whose song Pass Out has just been announced as the “Best Contemporary Song” at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards. Add to that a list of essential DJs with insane amounts of creativity and crowd-pleasing energy and it’s easy to understand why COME TOGETHER might just become a blueprint for the future of clubbing. It probably doesn’t hurt that this all takes place on the sunkissed island of Ibiza in a club known for its spectacular sound and light system, indoor/outdoor dance environment and down-to-earth entry prices.

This summer Pukka Up returns to Ibiza for its ninth season of boat parties and club nights. And it’ll be Sizzling on the high seas then just as Scorching on the dancefloors with this year’s concept; Too Hot To Handle.

Pukka Up is an Ibiza institution thanks to its dedication to its clubbers. Since 2003 Pukka Up has been the most talked about daytime-to-night time party on the island with blistering up front music from its residents who play house, electro, techno and beyond. Pukka Up has hosted nights at Privilege, Es Paradis and now a twice weekly residency at Space.

From June 21st through til September 20th you’ll be able to get two doses of Pukka Up every week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

This summer expect slick production, fun concepts, give-aways, gimmicks and of course the return of the Pukka Up Girls – the glamorous resident dance team who will be handing out free branded fans and leading the dance floor by example.

On Tuesdays (starting 21st June) and Fridays (starting 24th June) the Pukka Up boat will be leaving from San Antonio Marina, just opposite the fountains. The Sunset boat parties will run from 6pm – 9pm, followed by a free lift to Space on the Pukka Up branded bus and entry to the club.

New this season is a Pukka Up boat which leaves from Figueretas Beach in Playa d’en Bossa. The boat party runs every Tuesday from 1pm – 5pm. Your ticket includes the boat party with free sangria and bbq, plus your entry to Space. On Tuesday nights at Space Carl Cox is celebrating his 10th year anniversary for his night; The Revolution!

Coxy says “They’ll be pulling out all the stops for this landmark anniversary, and are inviting everyone who’s heading to Ibiza to join the celebration. Every year its gets better and better and this one will top them all”

Pukka Up will be back in El Salon for a second year with some special dates in The Red Box to be announced at a later date!

Space on Fridays is all about Come Together – the mini-festival in a club that last year had acts like Calvin Harris, Zane Lowe, Mark Ronson, Mauro Picotto and Grandmaster Flash all playing.

Lynn Cosgrave who developed the DJs-meets-live acts Ibizan night says “Our challenge in 2011 is to raise the stakes even higher. In other words clubbers can expect Come Together to be bigger, better, faster, stronger!”

Tickets for Pukka Up include the boat party, free bus and club entry. Plus a free copy of Pukka Up debut album ‘Ibiza Loves Me’. They can be obtained until the 15th April at the discounted earlybird rate of £30* each from our official partner Ibiza Spotlight and www.pukkaup.com/tickets.
