Crack Comedy Club at Farncombe Cavern, Farncombe – 27th July 2011

THIS July, Crack Comedy Club is back with a continuation of our Edinburgh preview season at The Farncombe Cavern.

We’ve had two back to back sold out shows and the club is quickly becoming a favorite with comedians – as well as considered a secret gem by locals.

Crack Comedy Club features the best comics working in the UK today, the focus is on you having the best night possible. Crack Comedy specializes in a great comedy experience in cozy and intimate venues.

This next show features an act that we can’t even name…it’s that secret.

However the other act is worth the price of admission all on her own. Andi Osho is previewing her second solo-show. If you haven’t seen Andi yet, she’s quickly become one Britain’s comic stars. This year alone she’s featured in the new series Stand-up For the Week and stared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

Jazz @ The Cavern, Farncombe – 13th July 2011

Henry is a trumpet player of formidable talent, and has been described by Jazz Journal as “having no superiors amongst European jazzmen, and precious few anywhere”. He is one of the unique and irreplaceable figures of British music and his beautiful trumpet and flugelhorn sound has graced British jazz for several decades.

Henry’s work on the jazz scene reads like a “Who’s Who”. He has played regularly with, amongst many others, Mike Gibbs, Michael Garrick, Graham Collier, Kenny Wheeler, Stan Tracey, John Taylor, John Surman, Gordon Beck and Pete King, and is one of only two or three trumpeters who have played lead trumpet with both Gil Evans and George Russell. He also leads his own quintet, Still Waters, and quartet The Great Wee Band. The Royal Academy of Music is awarding him an Honorary Fellowship at the beginning of May.

We are delighted that Henry is able to join us at the Cavern in a busy week as he celebrates his 70th birthday. The last of our current season, this is an evening not be missed! Advance booking recommended.

Tickets are avaliable to purchase online or at The Freeholders Public House at £6.00 each, or £8.00 on the door.

An Audience With Jim Diamond at Farncombe Cavern, Farncombe – 15th July 2011

Jim is best known for his three Top 5 hits. The first was “I Won’t Let You Down” (1982), as the lead singer in the trio Ph.D., with Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips. His solo performance, “I Should Have Known Better”, was a United Kingdom number one in 1984. The third track was the theme song from Boon, “Hi Ho Silver” which reached Number 5 in the UK Singles Chart in 1986. He has also featured as a vocalist on the charity No.1s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with The Crowd and “Let It Be” with Ferry Aid.

He started his music career at the young age of 15 with his own band, The Method.
At age 16, he also fronted a Glasgow band called Jade. That lineup included bassist Chris Glen who went on to play with “The Sensational Alex Harvey Band” and Jim Lacey on lead guitar who later went on to join The Alan Bown! Jade played many pub, club and college gigs in London in 1969, playing at Brunel University, West London College in Cricklewood, The Pied Bull in Islington, West Hampstead Country Club, another college in Virginia Water and many more in 1969. They also supported The Move on their Scottish tour with The Stoics in the same year.

Jim was discovered by Alexis Korner. He spent the next couple of years as part of Korner’s band. He provided additional and backing vocals on many of Korner’s songs. Most of which would appear on The Lost Album.

In 1976 Diamond left Korner to form Bandit. The line-up included AC/DC band member Cliff Williams. They were soon signed up by Arista Records and released their début album, Bandit. They failed to reach the chart. In 1979 Diamond was lead vocalist for a Japanese band called BACCO.

In recent years, Diamond has teamed up with saxophonist Chris “Snake” Davis, who is known for his work with soul outfit, M People. The pair where known as The Blue Shoes, but more recently have been billed as Jim Diamond and Snake Davis.

In 2005, Diamond released his first studio album in eleven years. Souled and Healed also gave Diamond the single releases “When You Turn” and “Blue Shoes”.

This performance at the Cavern will be an intimate, up close performance enhancing what will be an excellent evening for fan’s young & old.
